New update for re-flashing the PCM... even if it was done before. Must read to see if pertains to you...
RECALL 05E15 REVISED 1-10-06
Now included are certain 2004 and 2005 trucks built after 6-1-04. All trucks effected by this recall will now be reprogrammed using WDS version 40.7 or higher, or 41.1 or higher.
2004/05 Emissions and EBP Sensor Recall 05E15:
Certain 2004 and 2005 trucks are being recalled for computer reprogramming and replacment of the Exhaust BackPressure sensor and, in some cases, the EBP sensor connector. Econolines built between 12-9-03 through 5-28-04, and SuperDuties and Excursions built between 12-1-03 through 5-31-04 will have the EBP sensor connector replaced. SuperDuties and Excursions built between 9-29-03 through 11-30-03, or between 6-1-04 through 1-18-05, and Econolines built from 6-1-04 through 3-3-05 do not have the connector replaced. All of the above trucks will be reprogrammed to the latest calibration level. Since many trucks ahave already had the EBP sensor replaced with the current level part, the sensor part number should be inspected. If the part number on the sensor is 1850353 over a number starting with "C1", the sensor does not need to be replaced. Any other numbers, or unreadable numbers, will be replaced.
Does it affect the HP and torq? The letter seems to point to that way.
Does it affect our MPG?
Does it affect its durability?
Does it affect shift points?
Crud!!! I was just at the dealer yesterday, getting maintenance done. When I got home, #05B35 notice, in my mailbox...RATS! I have the service done at the dealer I purchased the truck at and it is 25 miles away. I wait for the service. If they haver to have the truck 1/2 a day...that is a logistical nightmare for me!!!!! To flash or not to flash???????????
Hmm...My notice says recall 05E16 (not 05E15) with a side order of 05B32. X runs fine (3500 miles on her) if it ain't broke, don't **** her off and fiddle with her.
Just got my notice in the mail today. The recall for my '05 with the auto transmission crew cab is 05B35.
Gives the warning about cold weather performance, not a concern to me.
Will treat this the way I do upgrades by Microsoft. I will wait a couple of months and let other test the waters. If they swim back and say the water is fine I'll jump in.
If all that surfaces is fish chum then I will pass.

I stopped by the dealer to make an appointment to have the reflash done and they said they could do it now if i wanted to wait.So i waited for it, about 30 mins is all it took.
I had my 05B35 done yesterday and put 250 miles on the truck today. Filled up with fuel this morning and put in my dose of Diesel Kleen, just like always. Here's what I notice:
It seems like the turbo boost is higher. Takes less pedal to drive the boost up than before. I also hear a more whine in the turbo. Not whistle, not droan, it's the whining that's louder.
The lie-o-meter for the first 100 miles had me worried. It was showing 15 mpg. But by the time I got home with 250 miles, I was back to showing my normal 19.7 mpg. It just took longer than normal to creep up to that number.
Can't tell that it did anything to performance at speed - the merges onto the highway seemed the same. However, I just tried holding the brake at a stop and then WOT and the tires smoked for a long stretch. I haven't been able to do that before (I'm all stock). AWESOME - that's a lot of fun (but tough on tires)!
I'll be watching the fuel mileage - that was my biggest concern about this flash. It's my first one since I bought the truck new in April 05. I have a Feb 05 build date. I've not had any problem whatsoever with this truck.
I have a 2005 F-350 and am considering the 05B35 flash upgrade. My concerns are power. I pull a huge trailer (45 ft long and weighing in at just over 16,000 lbs) and need every pound of torque I can put to the rear tires. I love my truck, and I use every ounce of power and don't want to loose any. Empty, I get 18-20 mpg depending on my driving speed. Pulling the trailer at 60-70 on the interstate with 25lbs boost, I get 9.5-10.0 mpg.
What's your experience since you got the new flash?
I don't want to loose torque and I'm not interested in an aftermarket "upgrade" that might destroy my transmission.
