My ole man has a 94 idi turbo and it would run(towing) right with my powerstroke when it was stock. Its a great truck and really impressed me when he got it!

I have a 94 4x4 7.3 idi factory turbo i have pulled as much as 15000 lbs no real problems on short hauls but in summer it will over heat. Also while hauling a tractor and implements( no idea how heavy) blew a seal in the torque convertor and dumped all the tranny fluid. Over all my buddies 99 psd
runs and pulls better.

It will do OK, how much are you going to pull?
A few small modifications will make it run and tow a lot better.

We pull an enclosed 26' trailer, about 10,000 lbs, 96 miles each way most every weekend in the summer. We have the 3" down pipe turbo mod and a little air intake upgrade. Gets around 10 mpg pulling. Compared to what I have into this truck and the price of a new one, it pulls GREAT!!

japar,
Get a 3" turbo outlet, down pipe and exhaust system installed before you trade trailers.

I would hate to see you do that upgrade next year and realize you need an even bigger trailer.

Towing

Ive got an 89 4x4 with the C6 and 4.11 gears. I have the Aftermarket ATS system with 3" DP and 4.5 inch straight pipe, i pull a 28' Springdale Fifth Wheel with a pop out, large pop out. It weighs around 7K unloaded, i pulled it to school to live in and wondered why it pulled so badly, got there and every tank was either 2/3rds full or full, pulled it the way your suppost to, and it pulled 55-70 anywhere there was pavement. Wind will probably be your worst enemy, it is mine with this trailer, as it is a stand up bed room.

Just my 2 cents for you.

Mike.

I've pulled a 20' gooseneck stock trailer with 7 head of cattle (full trailer load) easy 55-65mph also a 25' gooseneck 20'000lb flatbed with a 10'000lb loader tractor on it 55mph eventually trip but that was before the turbo upgrade and exhaust
