CEL Bulb

Would anybody know what the bulb number is or where I could get a Check Engine Light Bulb for a 1988 E-150. It looks like a 24 Volt door bell bulb with two long leads that you solder on to two pins in the holder. I think it is 12 Volts.

Here is a photo of it.

I know you probably have considered this, but you may have to buy a regular instrument cluster bulb and solder leads to it.

I had to do this to a pontiac grand prix I bought for my daughter. The headlight pod illumination light was out, and when I got it tore apart, found it was a very small bulb with leads coming out like your picture, and this fit into a long slender plastic piece with the leads bent at the bottom. Of course only the dealer had it, so I found the smallest bulb I could at the autoparts store, soldered the leads to it, and threaded it into the plastic piece. Works better than I ever thought it would. The brightness is even the same.

Problem Solved

Thanks for the reply.

I took a dial illumination bulb for a 1980 Ford Radio and soldered the wires from the old bulb together with the wires from the new bulb. It was a Sylvania #37 Code 334170 bulb.

Works great.
