What's the damage report on your motor? All bores ok like get a piston, bearings and ring it? Check your lifters and cam for scoring.
When I had the rocker covers fill with oil the pvc sucked then truck looked like a stock car after a motor exploded on the freeway. On 580 four lanes of traffic backed off like 200 yards, neutral and coast, throw a rev and go again after oil drained back. The rocker bushings has .012" to .014" clearance due to wear plus the HV pump. Rebushed and running great.

the entire thing is fubar. the lifters have grooves in them 2 lobes are almost round and one of the bores has a .003 groove in it. i am giving up on this one.
With the low miles the pistons still have cam in them unless they're scored up, get another block and bore to your pistons. Sounds like piston, block, cam/lifters, bearing and gaskets unless crank is scored. Check inside the pump it may be scored, if not did you mike and lap the old one? Sounds like you have more to work with than if you kicked rods.
A least it's nice and clean to work on.

You'll be able to salvage parts to lower cost of the next build I hope?
I had a fuel pump leak into the case while working in S.F., the level was 1 1/2" higher so I added a qt of 90 wt and drove to Alameda 40 mph. New pump and drove it over 200K more miles. Did you read the thread I posted in July where one fuel pump check valve came loose inside the pump? I did a side of the road MacIver repair, got me home. Look at the bright side, you didn't have a crankcase explosion, they can be bad.

found a nice 352 today. i bought it and have started a build. i plan to keep it a 352 for now. it has C1TE rods and a C8ME-A block. appears to be a older block because it has the freeze plug style oil plugs on the back for the oiling galleries. it does not have the screw in type. It had its last rebuild in 1974. I was told it is a 352 PI from a 66 cop car. It has adjustable rockers, C8AE-H heads , dual valve springs and a dual point dizzy. I tore into it to find it almost spotless. it has a .020 bore on the cylinders and no grooves so i just honed it for cast rings. the crank was turned .010 and it checked out with plasti gauge to .002 with the used bearings so it seems like it had little use.best part was it was in my price range FREE!. one catch though, i had to pull it out of the back of a C10 chevy truck sunk 2' in mud for the last 15 years. we hooked a 60' chain to the engine and just pulled it out to dry land. so the pan got a little screwed up and so did the valve covers. But everything else is fine. it had what i think was a cruise o matic trans hooked up to it.
Nice deal free is always good, keep us posted on the details of the build... if you leave it a 352 I'm curious what kinda hp/tq can be had from a 352..
