I just installed a K&N Cold Air intake kit on my 99 F150 with a 4.6, everything is working great but every so often it will make a low pitched whistle noise comin from around the air filter, its reasonably loud, i installed everything just as it says except for the vent hose that goes down to the driverside valve cover. The noise only happens when i come to a stop to turn or park, it never happens when i am just drivin along, it goes away if i give it some throttle, any advice would be great!
The whistle you are talking about as being normal is there too, that is not what is bothering me, its a very loud and low noise, almost like a sick fog horn, looked at some previouse threads on the topic and they seemed to say that it may be the cold temps, i live in northern Indiana and its about 20 degrees right now, they said that the cold temps may be causing something to stick inside or something
I put a cold air intake in my 2001 5.4 and it whistled for a few months. I noticed that 1 of the 2 Vac lines that is connected to it was bent/kinked. once I straightened it the whistle went away and never came back. To do this I had to install an elbow where the kink was.
