Most of the parts will not return to the truck, not that the parts aren't worthy; many of the parts are in good shape for a 52 yr old.
Question, are people actively seeking these parts, i.e steering box, I6 motor (running as of yesterday), tranny, rear-end, front suspension, hood (good condition), fenders (average condition/repairable), radiator, etc...?
All I pretty much need is a frame and cab, the rest are castaways to me.
People are looking for all sorts of parts. The trick is to hook up with them and, in some cases, find somebody close enough so that shipping a 400 pound engine won't spoil the deal. Try advertising here on the FTE classifieds. eBay is another option. Some folks use Hemmings.
I just purchased a stock frame, 272 engine, tranny ( basically the whole running gear / drivetrain for a 56 ). Owner was upgrading to aftermarket
frame/ high horsepower engine drivetrain. Travelling 400 miles this weekend to get it.This will be refurbished to install in the 56, I am rebuilding to stock cinfiguration. Don't discard your parts. We stock rebuilding guys are still around. Good luck!
53ford, may I ask what you had to pay? I have a frame, 272 engine, tranny with running gear / drivetrain for a 56 that I may want to sell, I clipped another 56 frame. I left the original one intact because it was in good shape with decent brakes/steering/kingpins ect. and I installed new front springs, shocks. Now I doubt I ever will use it to go back to stock.
53, I got your e-mail and thank you again. It would be harder to sell my frame from here but it`s stored inside and I hope to find a good home for it someday.
Too bad you live way over in North Dakota. I could use some of those parts but the shipping would be cost prohibitive. You don't plan on driving east with a big trailer any time soon, do ya?
53 Ford,
Was that the rolling chassis on eBay? Looked pretty nice.
Kevin,
Yes it was on Ebay. It was located in west of Atlanta. I just got it home this afternoon. Really good shape, it does the pictures justice. Also got extra parts dirt cheap that he also did not want. Two rear fenders, no rust whatsoever, 56 grill w/ v-8 emblem, parking liight assemblies, air deflectors, both horns, upper and lower valances, stock rear taillights. Some things I needed, some I didn't but could not pass up the offer.Had a full load on the way home. I felt like it was worth the trip.
