Hello from the great pacific northwest. I have a 300I6VAN85. New guy here. Need info on clearance issues for aftermarket intake manifold and stock efi headers with walker down pipe to fit in a full size van. My stock manifold leaked with the second gasket I put on. I am getting better at it but this is not my hobby.
Had some carb icing problems. Black and blue smoke. Some of the extra plumbing and wiring in that area got 86'ed. So looks like new carb time.
Leaning towards Clifford water heated manifold to cure the carb iceing problem. Sales guy at Offenhauser said thier Offty manifold has clearance problems for van use. I have see info on this site where guys have used the Offy dp with the 390 holley in vans. I can't find all the info I need.
Is the van still running with the offy dp? Did he (83VAN) use the walker down pipe? Did he use a 10 lb sleg to make it fit?
What is the the hot set up. I know I will have to install a different, hotter spark and dizzy. The air cleaner is also going to be a chalange.
My use of this van is to haul my dirt bike with camping gear. I would rather have better gas mileage than a faster van. I get my ya-yas out on motercycles.
The motor is out and will at least get reringed and a fresh valve job. Mileage is 185,000. Three on the tree and a real tall rear gear. Stock, it loved 70 mph. Thanks for any and all info. ps. Its lookin sharp w/ new paint and interior.
