On the 400M I just pulled out on the rearmost freeze plugs I had grounding plugs from the body to the block. On the new 351M that I just put in these freeze plugs don't have the electric plugs. Would I be safe if just grounded to the top of the manifold or am I going to have to change the freeze plugs(really don't want to do this, IT SUCKS)
[font color=red size=2]I've never heard of grounding freeze plugs - learn something new everyday.;-) Most ground straps go from the firewall to the rear of the head or intake. As long as it is a clean tight connection, it will work fine.

I know, it surprised me also, they are a long orange 3 prong plug. The only thing I can trace them to is simply for a grounding strap. I have the other already connected.
[font color=red size=2]I didn't even think of a heater... Yep, you would have to pull out one of the freeze plugs to use it. If you want a heater, I'd go get a new heater to put in there. They are only about $15-$20, it's a lot easier to put in a new one now than have to fight changing it when it goes out this winter.
Another option is to get a heater that hooks to the heater hoses, easier to hook up, just splice the heater hoses. However, I prefer the freeze plug type, I've been happier with them, and they give a cleaner look under the hood - you don't see them at all...
Just a thought...
