Good Afternoon, I have A Customer Who Attempted To Change His Own Fuel Supply Pump On A '95 Powerstroke, He Let The Plunger Fall Down Inside The Engine.
Has Anyone Had This Happen & If So What About Retrieving It ?

Thanks In Advance, Elliot
How big around is it? Is it small enough in diameter to fit out through the oil drain plug? Also, has it made it's way down into the pan yet or is it still tangled up in the crankshaft, etc?
Got to pull the pan you can get the push rod out through the dip stick hole but that is a chore aswell. Looks like your pulling the oil pan off to get the pushrod out its got to come out looking at spending some money.
It is why I had a commercial transport mechanic change mine sure it cost me 300 dollars. If I did the job myself and I dropped the push rod into the engine I would have to have the truck towed to a shop have the engine removed and drop the pan pull the push rod out of the pan.
Its a 8hr job to pull and reinstall the engine so at 70 dollars per hour the shop charges 560 dollars then another 300 dollars to have the pump installed your looking at 860 dollars.
I saved myself some headaches having someone else do it even thou I'am capabable of doing 90% of the work on my truck the fuel pump wasn't one of them. I know they are a biatch to change and I know if you drop the push rod into the engine its a major headache.
