I have an 03 Super Duty CC 4x4 with the v10 and 3.73 Rear end. I also have a 4" lift and am currently running 35" tires. My question is I have been doing quite a bit of reading on regearing my truck to put it back closer to factory torque and power. I believe that I am going to go with the 4.56. I keep reading that this is going to throw the speedometer off again. I dont understand how because the tire size is still the same. Can someone please verify that I am correct that there is no need for speedometer correction. Also has anyone went with this gear and what was your result. Happy or unhappy.
a 4.30 would get you close to the stock 3.73. but both will still throw the speedo off a little bit. the 4.56 will make the engine turn a addtional 450 rpm at 50 mph. www.randysringandpinion.com
I had a 97 f350 4x4 and went from 3.54 to 4.56 and loved it. I just purchased a 02 excursion ps4x4 with 3.73 and will soon change to 4.56. I run the same 35" on both trucks. Changing gears will not change speedo only tires size change. I was doing about 2500rpm @ 70mph which is perfect for powerstroke.
