Ok so far I got the old parts outa the distributor and am installing the new plates, when I realize the grommets for the wires will rub against the top plate that needs to pivot for advance ?? suggestions.. did i get something wrong >??? I'll take a pict and post in my gallery ..
If this will help I took the the old wire from the dizzy, slit the form fitted grommet, removed wire and installed wire for the new ignition trigger then rtv the cut slit, reinstalled in dizzy.

I think that piece would rub too the plate is right in fron of the hole.. this i can overcome.. just wondering if I did something incorrect...
Also I have the diaphram off and decided to try to suck on the tube and cover it with my finger for a leak test and it's as free as a bird... you can blow into it and it just goes right through... I take it this thing is shot..
I would say the vacuum advance is toast. What about having the wires installed thru the hole in the dizzy body, wedged up high for plate movement clearance then fill the hole with RTV, let cure. Are you sure the base plate isn't installed 180 degrees out, I think it can be installed that way but the pin for the vacuum advance link will be 180 degrees out. Did you take the moveable plate apart from the base plate and assemble wrong?
Plan "B", relocate and drill another hole, no don't do that please.
I've been running Allison and Crane without any installation problems, the rubber block grommet was the only modification ( slit open to install new wires) to retain water and dirt protection.

well the diaphram wont arrive for 2 days so, I have little time to ponder it LOL I'm thinking to trim off the one side of the grommet and seal it in place the rout the wire through and pray ahahha we'll see what gives..
