well after arguing with the shop for a few hours i finally have an new york state instpection. What happened is the truck was registered wrong due to the previous owner so the weights didn't match what the state had and what the truck was weighted at. they were doing 0-8,000 something and it was supposed to be 8000-10000. So partly my fault with the registration but we got stuff worked out and i got a go-ahead from the state to pass inspection. If the shop would have compared the 2 numbers they would have known. Supposely for emmissions you only need 4 outta 6 to pass with my weight and they were doing 6 outta 6 and it didn't pass because something is still wrong with the computer. I'm going to have to make an appt. with the dealer to see what they can do with the computer. I was told that i might have a warrenty left something like 8 years on the computer is this right? also i'm the 2nd owner of this truck so i dont' kno if that counts. Thats where i stand now, i'm just happy its inspected and i can drive her. Thanks for all your help on this topic this is a great site!

This is some of what a tech has to do to clear the p1000, of course someone who owns the truck will probly get the code cleared from there normal driving. Of course my understanding is after you disconnect the battery you will get the code again till the drive cycle is finished. Below is some info I found on clearing p1000......also there is no warranty invlolved in clearing a p1000.

the tuner is only good for your truck , when first used they lock up on the vin from inside the pcm which also holds the true milage

not true. You can only use it on one truck at a time. Right now my truck is back to being stock and the tuner can be hooked up to any V8/V10 gasser 96-present. www.superchips.com explains it all.
