Actually it's a F-150. But most of the 150 drivers got auto trans, so I guess I could get some input here.
Something seems a little... not right.
I got manual trans on the new F-150 R/C. Sometimes it's not so smooth to shift from 1st to the 2nd gear. The stick feels jerky on the way from neutral to 2nd, sometimes it stuck a bit and needs a big pull.
I paid attention on everything I could, clutch completely in, proper shift rpm, giving some time for the synchronizer. First I thought it's the synchronizer, but downshift from 3rd to 2nd never had such problem. Is this normal on ford manual trucks?
I remember it happens from the first few days. I never drove a manual truck before and thought it needed some break-in. 2000 miles on it yet. Is it something everybody lives with? I do like the smooth shifting into 3rd, 4th though.
Mines rough from 2-3 (don't use 1 as it's more of a creeper gear). I'm almost convinced mine is a synchroner problem, but I just shift slow into 3rd for the time being.
Sure. I'm assuming you are talking about a 6-speed. Apparently there is a term for this, its "notchy". Mine's the same way, though it is slowly getting better. Sometimes getting into second from first requires noticably more effort than any other shift.
Actually mine is a 6-spd too but I've never noticed a problem like this. Sometimes getting it into gear from neutral sitting still is difficult, but I think this normal with synchronization. I've had it since 30k miles and no sign of anything like this.
The problem with my 2nd gear is that it's easy to get through the synchronization, but then across a tough way to the end of 2nd. That's what I dont like. Honestly I just can't think of anything the dealer could do. Hopefully after a while, the truck can break in with its happy driver.
