AC SHOP MAN

Anyone out there with a shop manual for 74 F250 390? My question is, does the ambient air temp sensor pass through the evaporator or does it reside completly on the cab/warm air side of the evaporator? My AC cycles excesivly, about every 30 seconds after the cab cools down, I read somplace that the snesor could be to close to the evaporator and short cycling the compersor. I have pulled the wire away from the Evap but there seems to be more. My sensor passes through to the other side??? Maybe somone could take a look at there cab side and let me know, or maybe I should quite being so cheep and get one of those CD shop manuals.

Thansk Bob, plenty hot in MD

The sensor goes in between the fins and goes back to a little box that has two small holes in it. Look inside the two small holes and you'll see adjusting screws. They adjust when it goes off and how long it goes before it restarts. I had mine completely apart and tested it using my freezer.

If you like where it starts to cycle (you think it's cold enough) then adjust one of the screws to allow it to stay off longer before coming back on.

The main use is to keep of from icing up.

Also, they have a sensor in front of the rad that will turn off the AC when outside is < 70 deg.

You should have about 8~10 screws holding a cover on the box. These go thru the firewall and hold the box up. Once you remove that cover, I think it's either right there or behind a steel plate. I think it's about 1.5"x1". You'll see a wire(s) connected to it.
