Lock out the overdrive! With your gears, you don't need the overdrive kicking in while towing that much weight and you sure don't want to take a chance of burning the OD up.

Sorry guys,
I didn't mean to sound bossy, it's just that it has been my experience with overdrives and towing, even if it won't burn it up, with those gears and pulling that weight, overdrive would only be extra strain on both the engine and transmission.
Just my opinion,
Jerry

Jerry:
Be bossy, we need it in this thread! So you're one of those that belives that OD should be OFF when ever towing or just on hills and hunting? There are so many different thoughts, while we're on it do you believe in 1) draining tranny 2) flushing tranny 3) leaving well enough alone?
Thanks!
Billy

No worries Jerry, I plan on keeping it out of OD in the mountains completely. I'd much rather spend a little more on gas now than to worry about tranny problems later.

Man that jeep is such a pile. I think that you should let me take that vile pile off of your hands.

Just kidding!

You'll be surprised at how well that F150 will tow that trailer and jeep. Just watch out for the mountains, and use the tranny to downshift if needed.
