I was lucky enough to get a 302 HO at the price of $100. I am currently in the process of dropping it in my 86 F-150 4x4. The torque of the 351 is nice to have, but i needed a little more power at a higher RPM, so i went with the HO. Plus, the HO comes with roller lifters and cam.

I had a guyn I know tell me that the EFI system in the motor im lookin at(88) is different than my engine(92). Also told me that my cpu might not run it either. Anyone know it this is true?? I have no clue but Im searchin. Playin phone tag with the guy, hopefully I'll get a hold of him.

the efi system was the same till 94 in the trucks when they started going mass air. the 92 is for sure the same, but the ecu is setup to control the tranny (e4od) your 88 would not use that type so the ecu wouldnt be the best choice but could be used for a short time. the CEL would be on telling you that it doenst see a tranny there. otherwise no big deal.

would the wiring harness on the "new" engine work also, or would I have to swap it with mine?? Im goin to look and prob buy it sunday, cant wait!!!

not sure if you could use the harness there may be some differences. I know the 5.8 harness that came with my motor was from a 95 f250 and it wouldnt work with my 88 bronco setup. also that newer style uses a remote mounted TFI module which is a good thing but means you would have to use the newer dizzy as well
