engine size question

how can i tell what size engine i have in my 1970 f-100? my friend told me it was a 289 v-8 ,but when i look for parts and it asks what engine i have the smallest v-8 is a 302. also someone else told me the smallest size was a 302. is it possible that someone took the original engine out and replaced it with a 289?

What parts are you looking for?

The only difference between either engine is stroke. Everthing external fits. The 289 was not in production in 70. I don't think it was ever available in a full size pu.
