Clutch problems...
The problem: The clutch will slip in 3rd and 4th gears when you mash on the pedal. I've adjusted the clutch in and out and have the same result regardless of clutch pedal location. AND, the further the clutch is adjusted out (less pedal) the clutch "ticks" pretty loud (flywheel?).
The engine was rebuilt approx. 30K ago and a new clutch was put in at that time. The truck wasn't mine yet, so I don't know many details about the rebuild other than it was stock. I imagine it was done "farm-style" though.
There is *some* oil seapage around the trans, but hardly enough to leave a quarter sized spot overnight.
Short of pulling the transmission and replacing clutch parts, any ideas?
Question #2: The NP205 was rebuilt not long ago and shifting between 2wd and 4wd is WAY too easy (it will shift just breathing too hard in that general direction) and it VIBRATES! I have remedied this (temporarily) by a bungee between the shift sticks, that way the vibrations are damped somewhat and it won't shift by itself.
The mounts look good and solid, not rotted. Could it be the driveline is unbalanced? Possibly pinion angle being screwed up when the transfer was re-installed? The wheels were just recently balanced and rotated TWICE to eliminate that as a suspect.
I dunno....
OH-YEAH! almost forgot, I have had several people say that if the flywheel has ever been machined that they have had problems with the cluutch slippping
