I am in serious trouble, i think. Yesterday i drove my truck cold because i needed to get somewhere quick. Now this morning when i went out to warm my truck up, there was a loud clicking noise as soon as i started it. I opened up the hood and checked the fan and belts, but it more sounded like it was coming from the carb area. I myself am thinking that i bent a rod.
Welcome to FTE! If it was a bent rod, it would be louder than a clicking sound. It'd sound more like a diesel when it idles. What kind of engine do you have? What kind of carb? We need some more info to be able to help you pinpoint the trouble your'e having.

What engine are you running. It might help to put the question in the engine tech forum for help.
Might be a rocker arm that need adjusting........a cheap stethoscope would be good to have as you can listen around on the engine to help find where it's coming from. Might just be a rocker arm that need adjusting. I've had good luck at removing the noise by replacing the nuts that hold the rocker arms on and then adjusting the valves. Lots of people blame the noise on a lifter, but most if the time it can be adjusted out......
But, before you do all this, change the oil and filter and see if that helps.....
Mine had the same problem. I checked everything it was driving me crazy. I called a friend of mine who had the same truck about 10 years ago, now he has a newer one, he told me to check the speedometer cable. i was desperate so i gave it a go. As it turned out it was the speedo cable, somewhere along the line it wore away the insulation on the housing, the clicking sound was the cable 'whipping around' inside hte speedo housing. so i replaced the cable. now no more clicking and my speedo is more acurate. 2 problems, one solution. check it out... you maybe supprised
