I got a 1984 F250 with a 460, Holly 4 barrel. The truck will start fine when cold, but after the engine warms up it will shut off and not start again until the next day when it is cold. I've replaced the ignition box, distributor box, coil, spark plugs. When I pulled the new spark plug, they were burnt (black). I'm not a mechanic so is this caused by the carborator, or the ignition system? Any advise would great be apprecated.

Thanks for the advise. I checked the carb. and the electric choke was not working. So I replaced it with a manual choke which seemed to really help. I also cleaned the distributor and it runs most of the time. But even with the manual choke, it will start one time idling fast then the next time you start it up it idles to slow. When it idles to fast it will warm up and then shut off and I have to wait 30 minutes before it will start again. Could it be the float not working right? and if so, is there anything that I need to be aware of before I take the front off the carb to check and replace the float if needed?

Yes it dies after the choke is fully open (sometimes). No backfire, just shuts off like you turned the key off. Or it will run fine until you shut it off then won't start again until you let set for about 30 minutes.
I changed the plugs right after installing the manual choke, but I have not looked at them since. I'll check the plugs again and see if they are clean or not.
Someone mentioned vapor lock on the fuel line. It has the two line fuel system so I thought that keeps it from vapor locking. But I may cover the fuel line anyway and see if that helps.
Thanks for any advise. I've learned more about engines and carbs. with this truck than any other vehicle. Kinda frustrating, but at the same time kinda fun trying to figure it out. I never thought I would enjoy working on something like this, but it gets addictive. Just glad its not my primary transportation.

Symptoms may fit a failing Electronic Engine Control, or EEC, but you said you changed the "ignition box" and "distributor box."
So check for spark at the plugs after it dies. Also, when it won't start, look down the carb and operate the throttle and look for jets of gasoline from the accelerator pump, to determine the presence of fuel.
