I was always under the impression that the Crown Vic would be built forever in it's current form and never redesigned. But I read on CBC a quote from the Union boss that made me think otherwise. Has anyone heard anything about this? Does Ford have plans to build a new Crown Vic?

Reason: Can't spell
I hope not. I just bought a new one ('05) in November, and it is the greatest riding car on the market. Quiet, smooth, great accelleration, and that trunk! My Gawd!!Talk about room. The only thing I would like to see is a telescoping steering wheel. It is a bit of a reach like it is now.
The power adjustable pedals work better than the telescoping steering wheel. It keeps the steering wheel the proper distance from the driver for safety and puts the pedals within reach. My Town Car is a Crown Vic. with more bells and whistles and an even better ride. I bought a used Town Car because most of the used Crown Vics were police cars or lower trim level commercial vehicles. Besides, used Lincolns are a great buy because they depreciate like crazy and they are usually maintained perfectly by the original owners. I also get 25MPG on the highway.
I heard few months back a slight face lift, same panther platform, but power coming from the 3v SOHC mustang gt motor, sounds good to me. Cant remember were it was i got this info, i think it was from a vic form idk. Like I was looking at the new town car same *** end but different front end kinda like a conti. but still town car. Lets see what happens...

Well, I've never owned a Lincoln, so I can't speak from authority on them, but to give you a little idea of my previous car riding experience, I had an '02 Buick LeSabre before the CV, and a Caddy De Ville before the Buick, and an Olds 98 before the Caddy, so does that qualify me as a car judge? The Crown Vic is the best ride of the lot so far. Not quite the mileage I got with the Buick, but ride, roominess, and performance excells. That stereo w/CD player really rocks! And that full size 16" spare, can you believe it? I never had one of them since my old '75 LTD. Talk about old school. No fear riding on that tire after a flat.
And you've obviously not ridden in a Crown Vic, have you?
An S-Class and E-Class Benz and an XJ Jag will provide a better ride than a Crown Vic...
Not to mention a base model Falcon (which coincidentally has better acceleration, is quieter and smoother)
Don't get me wrong, the CV is a good car, reliable as the hills and one of the best second hand buys out there, but a class leading car it ain't....

I've been in plenty. Sure they are a nice riding car, but comparing this car to the entire market, there is no way that its the "nicest overall". Its a boat and rides like one, the handling is horrible, its braking is bad, and its outdated. The only thing about it is that it is so heavy that it absorbs bumps like a truck, and is fairly quiet. Its far from being the best riding car out there.
well yeah and the fact being v8 consumes a lot of gas, but so what......is very comfortable....i stick to lincon though guys, i dont know if u remember but the old class one's still are nice inside, the mirror that turns when lights hits it so it dont bother your eyes, lights on the cruise....very nice.....however in the other end, the ford is cheaper.....they're not that luxurous, it just looks a bit taugh....
methinks a lot of you haven't driven a recent CrownVic, Grand marquis, or Town Car.
1. It doesn't handle like a boat. I drive my GM primarily on back country two lane roads. A Porsche it ain't, but with decent tires (I run Toyo TPT's) and shocks it'll run through the corners very nicely, thank you very much. It is a family car and a cruiser, not a sports sedan, after all.
2. 17-19mpg in town and mid/high 20's on the highway is not only great gas mileage, it beats a 6-cyl Camry or Accord (non-hybrid).
3. Yes, other cars will outride and out-drive it. But most of them cost 50-300% more than a Vic or GM does.
Then, define "outride" and "outdrive." Last year, I took a trip with a buddy that owns a very late model 7-Series BMW. He couldn't believe how nicely the GM rode and drove (interstate driving). Yes, his 7 will outdrive the Marquis- but he'll never take it on the type of roads or at the speeds where he'd notice the difference. The bulk of the driving his 7 gets is interstate, 70-80 mph, with the cruise set. We're not in Germany, kids- that pretty well describes routine driving in the states.
These cars are probably the best value for the dollar you can find an they ride excellent. There very relaible an durable. We have an old 88 Grand Marquies an were still using the car today. Not one problem with it. These cars are built pretty sturdy too. A used Marquies or Lincoln you can really save the bucks. I am seriously thinking about getting a new or less then2 year old Grand Marquies.
The dealership where I bought this one has two brand new '05's leftover and would really love to sell em. I'm not in the car business, and never have felt it to be good business to buy more than what one required, but this is one car that I might consider having a second one on hand just in case I hit a deer or have some other boo boo happen. That way I can jump in to another Vic and keep right on rolling. Besides, I am afraid if they do change the things, they will ruin them. Especially if they listen to some of the posters who have left their feelings and impressions of the Vic on this thread. These present day cars (Vics, GM's, Lincoln's) may be the last of an era that I am not ready to give up! I've owned the others (front wheel drive, unit body, V-6, small trunk with donut spare) and now have made the circle back, and I am staying!

They are down to one shift on the Bathtub (CV, Marquis) line in Ontario now, so I would think they would be looking for a replacement.
I want one to slip under my '63 unibody... they can keep the top part.
