God, has everyone forgot all of the crying from the ford drivers when they went to the Taurus? Nascar bailed them out because chevy won so many races with the monte carlo. Remember?
Can't say as I do! As for gmna$car "bailing out Ford," you can't be serious!?! I don't recall Ford ever getting the "gimmes" gm has gotten over the decades. The comparison isn't even close! LOL
In fact, I also believe they continue to get gimmes in gmna$car, and the latest proof is in the latest speed charts at DIS compared to last falls pitiful testing numbers for this "upgraded" monte. I won't even get into the latter part of last season's shivy gimmes in cup.
Why else would so many teams prefer to run shivy? The one car teams aren't going to get any more factory support with gm than with Ford. Ford's easily outnumbered 2/1 and imo has always been looked at like the step child in gmna$car.
Back in the days of real racing if Ford got an edge on GM it was up to GM to fix the problem, not NASCAR. And the same for Ford when the Mopars were winning. And fix it they did or they stopped winning. Today it's about who is whining, not who is winning...
Sure beats watching golf on Sunday's.
I'm a huge football fan, so when there's no football what better to watch than racing?
Something about the cars going close to 200 MPH 3 wide, bumper to bumper and drafting that gets me excited, I agree, it's not what it once was back in the day but it's still very fun to watch.
I used to watch football religiously, I no longer care to waste my time. I'm getting the same attitude with gmna$car. If it were pure racing, that would be one thing but it has evolved into much like a entertainment event than actual racing.
How can you call daytona and dega and soon to be atlanta racing when they are restricted? To me one word (fact) undoes (word?) the other! Add to that the cars will be "iroc"ish, moreso than they are now, in the years to come will really kill the sport as far as I'm concerned.
More airtime is spent interviewing "certain" drivers to see what they think of this or that, than is given to actual quals, practice, racing, etc. turning it into more of a peyton place than competitiveness.
Hey to each their own, but what they are shoving down our eyes/ears these days is nothing more than bunk.
For instance, did you happen to notice during race #2 of the 150 duels yesterday that the cameras were almost constantly focused on the #10 valvoline shivy running alone back in 15th or so. It was lap after lap of every angle of it. What, did valvoline do buy some extra coverage!?! Sheesh!!
The 150 twins races yesterday have become almost meaningless. With 35 provisionals and 4 determined by speed. Ther are only 4 spots being raced for. It was so important that they didn't even show the winner cross the finish line. They were only interested in the drivers that were trying to get in the race. That along with the no bump rule made it the most boring races I have seen in years. Sure was a waste of time (and I Ti-Voed it to edit out the most boring parts).
If it weren't for my Tivo's I wouldn't even waste my time. I start watching an "event" about 1 1/2 hours into it (while it is still recording) and ff through the endless commercials. By the time I get caught up to live/realtime the race is nearly over. Tivo is an ingenious contraption!!

You're absolutely right. I attempted to do it last night with the truck race (which is the best racing left in NASCAR) and I set it for the time listed. I got home about 45 minutes into the recording and figured it should work out about right to get to the end live. The race hadn't even started yet and all they had were the talking heads! I have found that I can watch a 500 mile race or a football game in about an hour and not miss any action or a play. My DVR will skip 30 seconds at a time. With football, it is almost exactly the time between the whistle and the next snap. Couldn't go back to conventional TV viewing where the schedule controls you rather than the other way around.
