Thanks to those who sent me vacuum pictures and info. I bought a truck that had almost all the vacuum lines disconected. They were on the truck but twist - tied togehter and screws in the end of the hoses.There were a lot of vacuum leaks, the truck ran very rough even after a tune up. My 1979 F150 300 6cy 1bb carb (carter) 4spd 4x4 is running much smoother since all the vacuum lines are in tack. I finally have the charcol canister hooked up with most hoses hooked up and the air pump is back on. The questions are:

1. The air filter housing that sits on the carb has two hoses on the back side ,the bottom hose comming out goes to a tee: one line off this tee goes the back of the carb, the other line goes to the bottom of the Ported Vacuum Switch that comes off the thermostat housing, is this correct ? The top line has a inline valve of sots (black color) , with a long hose connected to nothing .What does this connect to ? It is a vacuum line I can feel a small suction.


2. The air pump bypass valve has a device or valve with a nipple on it. What vacuum hose connects to this ? My manual says for V8's this is hooked up to DVD valve. Is it the same on the 6 cy ? If this device is the DVD valve what does it connect to ?

3.My charcol canister has a line that tees to the EGR vavle and then to the top of the Ported Vacuum Switch. Is this correct ? Or does this line go to the DVD on the bypass valve also ?

3. From the desciption above are the two Ported Vacuum Switch line connected correctly?

Thanks for any help, I have vacuum diagrams but do not know all the abbreviations or understand all the connects, however they have gotten me this far with lots of studying.
