86 EFI to Carb
Gentlemen:
Let's see if I can explain this mess. A friend has an 86 F150 with the 5.0 EFI engine. That engine lost a rod bearing, and screwed up the crank/rod. The guy has absolutely zero money and so he wants to get it on the road, any way we can without spending anything. I've got an older 302 CFI (throttle body) fuel injected engine that runs great. I have no use for it, so I figured I'd trade him for the EFI. He wants to take the CFI engine and put a carb on it (And we've tried to talk him out of this) Now my question is this: What all does the computer control in his 86? I've been told that it doesn't control the AOD tranny, so what else is there? Does it control things in the dash? Speedo? If he takes the computer out of the truck along with the EFI engine, what problems will it cause?
