I kinda figured that when you mentioned the extra fuel kit, I think they call it Duration. They are the only dealer marketing extra fuel. The Duration is a bit cheesy and lacks refinement. Someone with a little mechanical knowledge can do a better system at a fraction of the cost. I've even thought of making some for sale myself.

Quick question: The two caps you got to drill out, they were extra Honda caps right? If so, do they have the plunger tops? The two caps in the picture on the side of the can, those are just the other Honda caps right? Whats "eco off" mean, full power?

Nice job, great pictures. Thanks. Oh by the way, do I get the two wheeler with my gennies??!!

One of my responces got "redirected" so if this comes up twice, forgetaboutit.

Great pictures and info, thanks! Couple of ??'s, the extra caps you got to drill out for the fuel line, are they spare Honda or spare gas can tops? Are the two caps on the side of the can the extra Honda caps just hanging out? Are they the plunger type for priming? Does the black bike come with my new gennies?

Thanks again for your help.

I originally used the caps that came with my Hondas and didn't drill them so I could use them stock when needed. After two months I bought a spare set of caps from Northern Tool. I then drilled these caps and installed 1/4" brass nipples to connect to the fuel lines. The nipples swivel which makes it much easier to screw the caps on and off. Thinking about redesigning my setup, just wish that I could turn the caps on my lathe but need a four jaw chuck...actually, I could mill them though.

No primer is needed.

It appears in the pictures that the caps hanging on the tank are extras.

Note: when I went back and clicked the links that I posted earlier the last one for some reason brings up the extra fuel webpage. Will try to fix if possible.

Couldn't fix it but here's the pictures of a rear mounted pait of Hondas. This has got to be the best looking fuel setup I've seen. Hondas

Thanks, great pics. I like the braided hose, but I like your cap set up. Your system does not need the gravity feed does it?

Very cool, thanks again.

If need be when not hauling the trailer, haul the same set up on the back of the F150!
For those with 5th's, here's how I mount my Honda 3000. When towing
I leave the tailgate at home, and the gen stays mounted there all the time,
with a lock on the receiver.
It was a fairly easy weld job to fabricate the H frame platform and bolt
the gen onto it.

Great set up for a 5th! Do you move the truck away from the bedroom when you run the gennie? I thought of setting mine up in front of the front bumper, but thought behind the trialer would be less likely to get "bumped". Nice set up.

Nope - it's very quiet when running, hardly notice it, even under load :-)

I had initially thought of either a front mount or on the rear of the 5th,
but I had plenty of room in between and it works out great. When on the
road, I cover it with a tarp to keep the weather out, and it's no problem
driving around with it on the truck when unhitched.

Billy,
This must be the post that got redirected, since it has new questions I'll go ahead and answer them.

The caps that I bought were true Honda replacements and complete with the vent valve on top. It's not a plunger at all, turn it left a 1/4 turn to open the tank vent and to the right to close.

The ECO switch controls the rpm, with ECO off the generator runs at maximum rated RPM. The neat thing about the inverter type of generators is that they only need be run at an rpm that is required for the power usage. With ECO on the Hondas run at a reduced rpm, with a 500w load just above idle. Varying the load also varies the RPM with the ECO on

This means that they use less fuel, are quieter, and the inverter puts out a fairly clean source of power, which is good for microwaves, tvs and computers.
************************************************** *******
Holy Cr@p!!! My power just failed about 10 minutes ago...I pulled the Hondas out and in two minutes had them online, they are running right now. A call to the power company says that it will be about three hours before power is restored so I hooked up the extra fuel just in case. Only adjustment that I had to make inside is to turn off the electric water heater, the hondas will run it but I don't need the water so why waste the fuel. Loosing the power also killed my wifi and dsl and the SO's computer so getting those back online was a priority. Luckily my laptop has good batteries so I didn't loose this post.
************************************************** *******
BTW, the Hondas have fuel pumps so some people have actually plumbed their extra fuel directly into the fuel system, it's harder to do but I may go that route in the future. Those pictures aren't mine so I can't give you the bike, sorry.

Well the power just returned so I'm going to send this before I go secure the Hondas and switch over. I won't put them up because we have high winds today and I have a feeling that the power is so-so for awhile. Just noticed that my satellite dish blew over too, Rats!

Very nice. Now I want a F250 with D fuel, a 5th and space between my bumper and the trailer!

My Hondas ride in the right rear corner of the bed on my F-350 and are covered by the overhang of the fifth wheel. Last summer I ran them to power the A/C while going down the road so that when I stopped for the night the 5ver was already cool. Besides the cats liked it better than last year, seemed like it took forever to cool down. It was nice too that I didn't have to stretch the shore power cord when I stopped and only had to top off the six gallon fuel tank. I ran the generators nonstop for five days at a time without problems. The 5ver overhang also protected them from the rain too.

When I unhitch I set the generators on the ground and lock them to the landing gear. Last April we went to the big airplane show in Lakeland, Fl for and entire week, it was hot and I ran the generators nonstop the while time, even did the laundry and they ran the dryer no problem.
If anything ever happened to these I'd buy another pair, that's the best endorsement that I can give.

BTW, Power remained on so I stowed the generators back in the front compartment and decided to rework my fuel caps. And I set the dish back up and put some guys on it so it doesn't blow over again, this was the second time.

Why don't you run one generator of the proper size instead of two generators together? It seems that you would have twice the trouble than with one.
I'll pull out the 6 KW MultiQuip, feed the welder, power tools, small refrigerator (full of beer and steaks) fan and music when in the back 300 at the ranch besides that 11hp Honda is quiet and sips gas. Industrial machine for industrial working people. Nuff said.

And I imagine industrial noise to go along with it? Most of the people that say their generator is quiet only think that because they are half deaf from being around it. Your generator is quiet??? At 74db @ 23 feet I'd run you off and so would any campground that you try to stay at. You can hold a normal conversation standing over a pair of EU2000i's while they are running. The roof A/C unit is louder than the Hondas at 30' when I run them in the summer...and they are running the A/C!!! Can't hear them inside, even in the bedroom and they are sitting underneath it.

Each Honda 2000 weighs 46 lbs and I don't intend on picking them both up at the same time. Your's weighs 205 lbs, but it comes with a lifting eye.

Also, if I only need a little power I can use just one at a fuel savings. They have a 1 gallon fuel tank and will run up to 14 hours. Now once again the spec's on your's shows a run time of 5.5 hours on 5 gallons of fuel.

Nope, I'll keep my Hondas and you can have the 6 KW MultiQuip, it's too heavy, too loud, and uses too much fuel. It belongs just where you have it, in the back 300.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not flaming you or your choice of generator. A 6 KW MultiQuip is not cheap and if it does all that you need then that's what matters. It doesn't however, fit into the RV world and that's where the Hondas really shine.
