302 heads

I have a 1981 302 i am building up and i understand the heads are crap so what are my options i can get a complete 72 302 for cheap would those heads be better. I dont want the headaches of installing gt-40p heads and do not want to spend more than 400 on heads. Im looking for about 275 hp i plan on using a edelbrock performer intake holly pro jection and a comp cams 260h i plan on using long tube headers.

In my opinion, you'd be better off with the '72 heads. Depending on which heads you actually have, they should measure anywhere from 58 to 63 cc's.
The chamber size of those '81 heads are probably 69cc's which will lower your compression. A set of '68 302 4-V heads would be a good set-up...they have 53.5 cc chambers.
A lot of guys like the E-7 heads off 1987 and later Mustang 5.0s. That might be your best low-cost alternative. Good luck with the project.
