That is an ungodley amount of air flowing into the engine!
it is so loud (not complaining). completed it , took it for a spin called the wife up (she was sitting on the couch), told her to be standing in the driveway in 1 minute, (she was in her pj's standing in the drive way took her for a spin with a sh*it grin from ear to ear. She said it was cool just so she could be dropped back off at the house but she did notice the air rushing into the engine and loud spool up. had to let you guys know. kwick thanks for the confidence on getting the 6637 to fit under the stock intake boot. worked like a charm. it looked like it would never fit , then ,BAM! it just slid right on. just had to be perfectly aligned. COOL! best mod so far just need my 5" exhuast question answered!
I just love popping the hood of the truck when people are watching. Just to see the look on their face when they see that big filter in there. And the whoosh sound gets their attention when they are riding with you as well. Great mod...the cool factor and the mod really does help the trucks airflow.
I didn't notice any more whoosh sounds because my engine is so damn loud! Perhaps if I do the fuel line mods and a few others the engine noise will decrease and I can hear the whoosh you guys all talk about.

Ahhh the ever popular Tymar style filter I've found that the whooshing sound ya'll is describing is exhibited better after installing a Wicked Wheel which we've done both of.
The whooshing sound is caused when the turbo is building boost pressure to a point when the transmission changes gears causing the compressor wheel to have a sort of back wash effect boost pressure wise,it also sounds good when on the accelerator at above 15 psi

can't be considered a stocker navistar anymore..... youre hooked on Powerstroke Mod Syndrome (PMS) which soon leads to emptywalletitis and wifepissedatmeitis (not in my case)
Yup, i got the bug, the mod bug. but still not going to chip it!
I tried that one day by removing the programming without telling the wife and while she was on her way to the office the next day she called from her celly exclaiming what's wrong with the truck it's dragging it's feet!? After a minor explanation I went to her work and put the programming back in the truck
