Question How Long will it take?

I have a blown head gasket in my 1989 F-150 2wd with an I6 in it. I was just currious how long it would take for me to repair it. A friend of mine told me 3 hours. Is this true?

And how much are the parts going to cost me?

All help is appriciated.

3 hours is reasonable if you've done it before, know where all the bolts are, and are organized. Double or triple that if you're not a mechanic.

Usually just the cost of headgaskets, maybe some RTV, and replacement bolts if you snap any.

It was too easy to fix,It isn't gonna work.

Point is,If it is easy to fix, either you got lucky or that isn't the problem.

Thanks guys! I have a pretty good idea it's the head gasket cause I have antifreeze in my exhaust. Also do you know whether or not my truck has the air in the head or air in the manifold? How is an easy way to tell?

You either have AIR injection in the catylic converter or the converter and the head. If you have it to the head, it is easy to spot. there is a metal tube that goes right under the intake manifold with small branches that go through the cylinder head to each cylinder. There is a rubber hose and check valve that come off of it and go to the bypass valve.

It'll be in the head and in the converter. All EFI 300's I've ever seen are AIR in head.
