What have you done to help your old girl get better milage?

Installed an S10 5-speed transmission, and a 9" 3.23 rearend behind the original Flathead 6. To replace the original non-syncro 4 speed and (optional that year)4.27 rearend.

I only get good mileage with my 351C when I don't drive it.

With my 223 ( Rebuilt Block ) Been bored 30 over and deck 25 gapless ring stock intake log with a 5210 2bbl carb, T98 4speed and 4.11 rearend in getting about 19 intown and 15 highway..

what size tires are you running? any idea on rpm on the highway?

I have a 1957 F-250 with a tweaked 302 and a M5OD tranny, and have LT265/75R16 on 16 inch rims. I haven't got it completely streetable yet, but i'll let ya know how good/bad gas mileage it has.

T56 6 speed, 2 (count em, two) OD's! 6th gear 0.5:1 engine loafs along @ 60 MPH.

When I had a 292 y-block it added up to .75 mpg depending on how many mountain passes I went over when I took my data. The K & M also improved performance on hills incredibly, and nearly eliminated hesitation when passing/accelerating. It was a worthwhile purchase and I've bought K & Ms for all my vehicles since. With the girly 302/AOD modification and milder rear end I'm not winning any races but I'm getting 19 mpg on the freeway. Not bad for a white whale.
