I just got my 78 painted this weekend and there are some spots where the paint is not smooth. There's no runs, just orange peel. How can I fix this short of shooting the entire truck again. The color is charcoal grey and I used acrylic enamel.
You might try to post your question, on the bodywork thread. I wish I had the answer, but I figure the guys that monitor that thread could better help you.
you need to wet sand the areas....first with 1000 grit and then with 1500 grit and then use a buffer to polish the area....use rubbing compound and then finnesse-it from 3M......
Remember not to wax your truck for at least 3-4 months so the solvents can all get releasted out......
I didn't know there was a bodywork thread. I'll post this there. Someone told me that you can't wet sand if you wait to long (ie, when the paint has cured). Any truth in that?
it's better that you wait until the paint cures first......then any time after that you can wet sand it....just don't sand threw the clear coat....and yes I went to body school.
