L & L headers question

i have a 97 250HD 460 and i want L&L headers, i still have the 50 ttb and haven't decided if i am going to get a d60. i know the headers they have for the 50 will not fit the straight axle, but if i just get the ones for the d60, will they work with the 50 if i decide not to get a 60? also, i just cut my cat off, and i need to either put some pipe on there, or put a muffler on there, which would be better in terms of fuel efficiency? if a muffler, what's a good cheap one? thanks.

no, i don't want it quiet, but right now with no cat and no muffler it sounds too open....it just sounds sloppy. and on the highway its far too obnoxious sounding in the cab.

im not sure, but i think the issue with the different headers only matters at stock height, usually it has something to do with them hitting the differential and or driveshaft

i would think since you have the lift springs it wouldnt matter what headers you run...but i would probably get the cheaper set...

for an exahsut, if you dont need emissions, leave the cat off and run a single 3 inch pipe back behind the cab, run a single muffler like a moroso spiral flow, and turn it down after the axle, or exit it in the location of choice

the spiral flow runs about 40-50 bucks and has a great sound, dont waste the money on a flowmaster, they are overpriced...if you want the flow sound, you can get one of the off brand mufflers

thanx kubota, i prb will go with a moroso, that's about as much as i wanted to pay. i've never done anything with exhaust so i don't know anything about it, what would be a good cheaper set of headers? how thick should the flanges be? is 1/4" too thin? thanx.

they need to be at least 3/8, but i run landl's myself....never had a leak or spedc of rust in three years, and thats unheard of with cheaper headers

basically, dont cheap out on headers....unless you like replacing gaskets, retorqueing bolts, and replacing rusting leaking headers every few years
