Hello,
The truck is a 2000 Ranger 4 X 4 Supercab Stepside with a 3.0 liter. Mileage is 147000 roughly. I have had it since it had 22000 on it. (been a great little truck so far!)
I have brake lights, turns and flashers. I do not have tail lights.
I was under the truck most of the afternoon and seem to have some type of mental block.
What wire(s) in the harness runs the tails? Here is my thought and correct me if I am wrong please. If I know which wire, I can rig a jumper and start toward the end and work my way forward until the lights go out and the break should be there? Right?
I have already been over all the wires looking, feeling and such for a break or worn or rubbed spot. Nothing. Checked fuses and such also. Seems to me the jumper idea is all that's left?
Thanks in advance!
Dewey

Do your license plate bulbs work? They are tied to the same wire as the taillamps. The wire you are looking for is dark brown. This same wire feeds all the marker lights all over the whole truck. The jumper method would work.
Yes, the license plate lights work fine.
Haven't checked the bulbs but what would be the likelyhood of both going out at the very same time? Guess I should check them also. Good point.
On the other poit, where is the point that the wire would either tee off or split to go one to the plate lights and the other to the tails? Could that be where my problem is? (if it isn't bulbs?)
I really appreciate your help. Thanks once again!
