WOW. You guys are pretty good. I took it to a transmission place and they said that cylinder #8 was mis-firing and couldn't check the trans until after it was fixed. I replaced the COP for that cylinder and the truck runs like it did before. I cannot believe that a mis-fire would cause the truck to shudder like it did. I'll be replacing all of the COPs soon also, along with the plugs.
But I couldn't get my 5/8" spark plug socket to fit down the hole. Do you need a special socket? The outer diameter was too big and wouldn't fit.
the ford service tech couldn't find the problem at all but i did a transmissoin flush anyway. i dont notice it anymore but im still not sure what was wrong

I have a 99 F150 78K I have the exact thing going on with the shutter under mild exceleration. Only between 40-50mph what did you figure out? It's been like this for a long time, changed plugs, trany fluid, nothing. I'm taking it in Mon. to have it looked at. Could you through me a bone?
If it's not tranny fluid.then I suspect one of your coils is not working properly. They're sort of known to do that. I had one go on me last summer and that's exactly what it did.
I thought I was tranny trouble also.Took the truck to a mech.He put the truck in drive stepped on the brake and gave it the gas you could feel the miss.Ended up Ineeded cop#6 and after a 142000, changed the plugs Drove it to wark today with no problems. The problem with the coil pack was that it failed because of oil either from the vavle cover gasket or maybe some oil was left from a messy oil change
I have a 98 F250 and it will shudder like that when I am takeing off. I was told that it is cause by the drive shaft not matching up right with something. The person said it does hurt anything but it is annoying.
Buddy has a '92 Crown Vic that used to shudder going from 3rd to 4th (overdrive) at about 50 mph.. Put in some automatic tranny conditioner from the local auto parts and the tranny shifts smooth as silk.
I had a similiar problem after servicing my tranny [1999 f 150]and was told to add a tube of Lube Gaurd shudder fix and all is well. It comes in a small red tube that you cut the end off and squirt it in. Also, have you eliminated u- joints being bad?
