While we're on the subject of DP, anyone running the 140?
If so, what are the pros and cons?

I'll be giving some $$ up to Jody after the exhaust goes on and thought about the 6 pos chip,
Stock, hi idle, 40 Tow, 80, 100, 120.

What do ya'll use each setting for?
Smoke on the 120?

I may have to ask jody himself, but can I get a chip with the extreme 140hp setting with my weaker mods? I am planning on better mods later on in life.

I ask about the 140 hp setting with the mods I have, and I was told that the stock fuel system (mainly injectors I think) wouldn't support the 140 hp setting. The recommendation to me was to go no higher than 120 hp until I get more upgrades done. Not that the truck won't run with the 140 tune, but you probably won't see the most gains possible. The tunes I plan to run: Stock, High Idle, 40 tow, 80, 100, 120. I don't see the need to spend the money for a tune that I can't yet use. I have forged rods, so I didn't ask if the PM rods would hold up to the 140 tune.

You can always put it on now, and never use it until you get the bigger injectors/upgrade your tranny...

I thought about that too. But, there's not one I'd really want to give up for it. Eventually, it will replace the 120 in my chip, but I'd rather have one that I can use for now, and re-burn it later. It's probably gonna be a while until I can get the mods done to support the 140 setting. To each is own though. That's why Jody's got something like 9 different tunes to choose from!!

you can run around in hi-idle, but i dont recommend it, because the engine is transferring more stall torque to the torque converter, and it is partially locked, due to the pressure inside the T/C wanting to push the truck forward, because of the engine speed being alot higher than stock. the truck will try to creep forward as if you were just pushing the pedal to 1100 rpm. IT IS the stock horsepower setting, there is no difference in power when switching to hi-idle from stock. you can stand on the brake pedal and keep the truck from moving, but it sounds wierd at a stoplight and it just isnt good for it. high idle is designed for sitting still in N or P.
