Admittedly I have only had my truck just over a week, but I love it more every day. It is an '05 with 42K on the odometer already, you know it didn't spend any time in the shop getting worked on with that many miles driven. No leaking issues, it starts right up in the cold Clolrado mornings without being plugged in, and the power of 6.0 makes molehills out of the Rocky Mountains. Can you tell I like my truck?
I must say I have been getting very upset after hearing one bad deal after another. I get flak everwhere I go about owning the 6.0. I'm beginning to wonder if some of the people who own the troubled 6.0 are beating the crap out of them. That being said I purchased a 2003 6.0 F-550 dump brand new. This truck works hard every day but it is properly maintained and cooled after heavy use. I have had only one problem in 30,000 miles - it was re-flashed after 5,000 miles after it was having hot start issues. Since the computer re-flash it has been perfect. This is by far the best light-duty dump truck I have ever owned. Empty it weighs 11,500 lbs - I average 10 Mpg... I can haul 10,000 lbs in the bed and tow my trailer, utility vehicle and skidder - with ease... Lets see - 11,500 lbs empty truck + 10,000 lbs dirt + 11,000 lbs trailer load = 32,500 lbs
What can I say... I love this truck!!! I would buy another in a second...
I expect a useful life of about 125,000 miles before I have problems...
New to the diesel family. So far I am loving the power of this truck!(2006 F-350 C/C long bed lariet/sunroof/upfitter switches/towcommand/20's/Sirius/chrome nerf bars.Getting used to the loud engine when cold! after that, purrs great! 800 miles so far, can't wait to tow my boat/tt.
I just wanted you guys to know that I have owned a 2003 6.0 for almost a year and I will have to say I am pretty DAMN hard on it I have it chiped and I plow commercially with it so it takes a fair beating never had a problem going on 71000 miles I love this truck wouldnt trade it for a gasser ever just the thought of loseing all that tourque makes me want to shed a tear
7300 or so miles on my 2006 6.0 so far. Not a single problem.
I love this truck... (I'll love it even more when my 35" Nitto Terra Grapplers go on next weekend!) lol
Make sure to do a search on this forum about upsizing tire size. There is some calibration you need to do that I have read about regarding the truck's computer. Not expensive at Ford as I recall.
I love my 05 too. 25000 miles and running like a stripe-assed ape. CI-4 rated motor oil, Diesel Kleen fuel additive (just in case), follow maintenance schedule in the manual, and I just keep on grinnin'

had my truck 04 F-250 coming up on two years 17,000 miles.. got exh. intake an chipped it run like a top even when it was stock...just had a couple of little thing go wrong with it... but I love pulling up on little rice burning cars at the red light an beating them to the next light... I just smile an wave ...
Ive been reading things about the 6.0 in the past few weeks that have started to make me lean to something else. This thread was a great boost in my confidence. And makes me want that 6.0 that much more! Cant wait until I own one!
I got 12500 on my '05 and they have been great! Using good quality oil, Diesel Kleen in every tank. I have an Edge Juice/Attitude on the 100hp setting, but I keep my foot out of it. Almost all the time. Well, most of the time. More than occasionaly. More often than not.
This is the best truck I have ever had and the first diesel. I have a F-350 SRW CC 4x4. I have almost 6,000 miles all trouble free. I just went on a 800 mile trip with my 30ft toy hauler about 11,500 lbs loaded. The first part of the trip was 350 miles I was going about 80 mph. I got about 9 miles per gallon. Then the second part of the trip that I was not in a hurry I was going about 70 mph. I got 12 miles per gallon. I am very impressed with this truck how well it pulls and the mileage I get for the speed.
