your right! Fomoko

Well your right about the feeling Fomoko. i think i need to work on the kickdown rod it does'nt quite fit on there right it is kind of tight i added the extension peice that holley has for it. but its still hard to shift i am not getting out of second when i floor it. am i doing something wrong? i don't want to bend the rod it looks like someone had already bent it before. i wonder if theres an after market kickdown rod that i am sapossed to buy or something.

Best to talk to someone at a transmission shop or to drive down to one to get some ideas in setting it up properly. I have some idea but not that clear on proper adjustment.
The linkage has to be short enough not to bind between the carb/transmission when the gas petal is all the way up and long enough to activate second/passing gear when the petal is pressed down about 1/2 way to the floor. It will stay in passing gear if floored till you release pressure on the gas pedal. If the gas petal is to the floor the transmission will stay in passing gear which is second gear.
Good luck & hope this helps some what.

I cut the kick down rod and attached it at the swingset at the back of the manifold. Neither the Holley or the Edelbrock kickdown adapters looked right for my truck application. I'll try to find a picture. I know I posted one some time back.

As for headers, FPA is you have the funds. Otherwise, look at the FE engine forum and do a search for info on some of the cheaper brands like Hedman etc.

here are some pics of my FPA.

In the last motor picture on this page, you can see a shiny bolt/nut attached to the top of the swingset. It's where I attached the cut and flattened kickdown rod. sorry I can't find a close up picture.
