I think the 900FG would make a better pre-pump filter. You would want to swap the 1/2" flare nut fittings for some 5/16" or 3/8" barbed hose fittings to make it easier to install on a stock fuel system. That's a good price on that unit.

it seems to me that the transfer pump on our trucks would recirc more then 30 gallons per hour... Anybody have any hard numbers the flow rates of the fuel pump? How much is actually returned to the tank... hell, I bet I could BURN 30 gallons in an hour if i REALLLLY tried

I've been looking for a Racor unit like that with the heater, but they're hard to find at the higher flow rates.

Pre-pump, just make sure it's rated for 'suction'. I don't think that many of the Racor's are rated for pressure.

Definitely pre-pump, that filter is not pressure rated.

I'm assuming you are also getting rid of the Q/D fittings while you're doing the filter installation? If not, you should.

I used all 3/8" with two stainless clamps at each end.

5/16" will also work. I got the pre-pump kit from ITP and it came with a 5/16" hose. Like cookie said though, two clamps on each connection. One turned 180 degrees from the other.
