Get an HP 4155 PDA off ebay (around $200) and a Belkin blue tooth GPS with moving map software (around $100 ). The GPS is tiny (about 1" x 2"x2") and wireless. The software is the best I've ever seen, talks to you and rerouts you if you make a wrong turn are hit the off ramp because of a traffic jam. They even make mounts that will broadcast the voice over your radio. Plus you can play solitare or surf the net while you're waiting for your wife at the mall.
I bought one that goes on the window it ran me about $1000 with a 3 year warrenty it works great and i love it. the window mount works great and makes it easy to go between cars.
I've got a Garmin Quest and it comes with the entire USA database, is color, and issues voice prompts. I prefer the portable units as well, as it is easy to move from car to car.

Do I have to use the PDA as my cell phone from my provider (Cingular). Or can I still use the PDA with the Belkin without any service connection, and then just use my cell phone with Cingular.
No need for any cell phone or service. The 4155 is a stand alone pocket pc. It has built in Bluetooth and WiFi communications. The only reason you might use a cell phone is if you connected to the internet via a dial up connection. The GPS needs no outside connections. Just so we're straight here, "Bluetooth" and "WiFi" are just types of communication between devices without any wires. They have nothing to do with cellular communication. Some cell phones do have Bluetooth, but that's just for using things like wireless ear pieces.
This PPC is the best I've ever had, it is lite and fits right in your shirt pocket, unlike most of the moving map GPS's. Plus you can check your e-mail on it, or play your mp3's. You can free hand draw like you would on a scrap peice of paper, or make a list of things you need at the home depot. Best of all, you can do it all on the computer you're using right now and just sync up with the PPC and take it with you.

Thanks for taking the time to clear this up with me and post the pictures. I am reading a reviews of the Belkin on CNET right now, and so far they are all pretty good. For the PPC do you know how much memory it has, and if there is anyway to add additional memory to it.
Oh yea, you can add as much as they make. It has a SD slot, and I think the biggest one they make now is about a 2gig. If you put in the whole US and Canada I think you would need a little over 600 meg, but I'm just guessing on that one, I only have NC and the surrounding states in mine. The internal mem is something like 128 meg I think.

Remember, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask, least thats what Grandpa told me. That and "there's 2 things you never skimp on, and thats guns n car batteries, cause when you need em, you really need em".
Hey Matt(?), everytime I search for the HP 4155 PDA most of the results come back with HP iPAQ™ Pocket PC (RX1955). And when I go to look at the specifications they say it isn't Bluetooth compatible. I even went into the local Staples and they too said it wasn't Bluetooth compatible.
I am searching for the wrong thing here? Or is this it?
