I've been searching for answers but to no avail so far.
I have a '75 F250 4X4 with a D44 HD front axle with drum brakes. I'm in the process of rebuilding a D44 HD axle from a '79 F250 with disk brakes that I plan on swapping in. I also plan on doing a rear disk brake conversion. With this setup would I need a new master cylinder? If so which one should I be looking for? Also, do I need a new proportioning valve? Would an adjustable valve be a good idea?
I have also heard that swapping out the power booster to one from an F350 is a good upgrade - is this true? If I were to do this swap what would be the proper booster to look for?
You would probably want a master and booster from a truck originally with front disc brakes. Yes you will need some sort of proportion valve and/or an adjustable one. The bigger to booster vaccum the more pressure it will have to squeeze your brakes.
