Hello, I am ordering an F350 CC LB 4x4 V-10,Auto Trans, but am having difficulty deciding on the tire, wheel, and axle ratio combination. If you're willing, I need some info from current owners since there are zero V-10's in my area to drive.
Can't tell ya for sure, but one thing I can recommend is GET THE 4.30 LS GEARS! 4.30LS should be standard, and the 4.10 should be a high dollar option so no one would chose it!
Rim size alone makes no difference in reference to 18" or 20". Its the over all dia of the tire that makes the difference so be careful when comparing RPM with 18" or 20" rims. If both tires are the same overall height, then there will be no difference in RPM. The difference will be the side wall on the 20" will be shorter if it's the same overall height as the 18" tire.
Ford isn't going to offer a bunch of difference size tires and have to recalibrate computers to fix. All tires off the factory with be within a tolerance so the speedo is basically correct with one factory calibration.
I have 4:10 and I think its about 2k at 60 and 2500 at 80.
To figure tire height, use the following. As you can see BOTH Ford options are virtually the same. Can't find anything on the 20's your talking about on the Ford site.
265/70/17 (Ford 17") is 31.6" dia and circ of 99.3
275/65/18 (Ford 18") is 32.1" dia and circ of 100.8
This site lets you compare two tires and gives you all the info so plug in your 20" tire numbers and see what you get compared to the 17" and 18" options above. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
If you buy a tire that is taller overall, then your speedo is out of cal.
I can't help you with tire size as I still have not figured out to read the tire dimensions (265/70/17 really means nothing to me). But no matter what, get the 4.30LS. The difference between the 4.10s and the 4.30s are very minute when it comes to RPMs and the fuel usage is the same between the two. Get the 4.30s right away and don't think twice about it.
