I'm getting ready for the Spring MX race season and I do a lot of towing during that time, (toy hauler with dirtbikes). I want to change the fluids in my 6 speed manual, transfer case and the differentials. What is the best lube for these boxes?
I know SpringerPop,,,, but I love working on my truck. My girlfriend thinks I love the truck more than her...... (at least she knows ) I'm at work, trying to focus on the job,,,,,,,, but I can't stay away from FTE to long, I get all jittery. I can wait for the info,,,,,,,,,, I know somebody will steer me in the right direction By the way, my Springer pretty much rules the roost at my house, how about yours?
I use Redline in my six speed. There are three choices for the transmission.
D4 ATF
High Temp ATF
MTL if you want some extra heavy duty lubrication. NO thicker than that! Ford wants us to use ATF in the six speed, but MTL is thin enough to run in the stick shift without problems. I use it myself and the shifting is like butter and ZERO gear clash.
For the rear axle I use Redline Shockproof Heavy 75-140. I do not have a limited slip.
ford specs mercon ATF for the 6 speed and t case. the front diff gets 80w90 dino oil the rear gets 75w140 synthetic gear lube( add the friction modifier if you have l/s).
ATF in the trans and transfer, not sure what weight gear oil in the differentials. I had it done last year at a transmission shop before hunting season.
