I burnt a couple MP3 disks using Nero. When I load the disk into my 6 disk Audiophile head unit, it is detected as a CD ROM and is ejected. I burnt the disk as a standard ISO format. I can play the disk in my computer just fine. I am pretty sure I have something set wrong when I burn or the media I am buring to is of low quality.
Just curious if anyone else has seen this behavior and how you got around it.
Are you sure your stereo is mp3 capable? My 2005 Lariat has the cd6 audiophile system, but doesn't play mp3s. I believe the mp3 capable units were mixed in with the 04 and 05 models and have a "mp3" logo on the faceplate.
Interesting. The original window sticker has it listed as 6 disk/mp3 player. However, there is no "mp3" marking that I have found on the unit inside the truck. Maybe it was a miss print on the window sticker?
I think this happened to some other people a while back. If you stereo unit does not say MP3 right above the CD slot, then its not capable of playing them.
You should be able to take your window sticker to the dealer and make him upgrade for no cost. It takes about 3 minutes to switch it out.

Does your window sticker actually say MP3 on it? My 2005 doesn't. I never pressed the issue because I was told the non-mp3 units had better sound quality.
AUDIOPHILE $250
6-DISK CD CHGR W/MP3 CAPABILIT $300
I just assumed the head unit had MP3 capabilities untill I heard it should have "MP3" tatooed on the unit. I probably would have burnt 20 MP3 disks and kept trying to make them work if I didn't post this question!!!!
I burnt them around 24X if I remember correctly. However, the issue with my truck is I don't think I have the MP3 version of the head unit. Does your unit have an "MP3" marking above the CD loading slot?
No, mine doesn't have any markings at all. It is a early production 2004 w/ the audiophile so I don't know if that makes any difference. I burned some mp3's at 48 and they wouldn't work at all. When I dropped the speed to 8x they played fine.
I had the same problem with my truck. The window sticker said "MP3 compatible" and the Stereo didn't have the MP3 logo. So when I took it into the dealership, they pulled a "MP3" stereo from another truck and I was on my way in 15 minutes. Funny, until now I thought the dealership had swapped my original stereo to make a sale and now I think that Ford messed up....
As for the CD skipping, I have the same problem. At first I used the el-cheapo CDRs and had a lot of problems. I read somewhere online that to get good results you need to purchase high-quality CDRs...so I did...and got better results, but not perfect. Then I bought an Ipod and used Apple's software to burn the music on the el-cheapo CDRs...and have had zero problems with the CDRs since then. So I think it is a software problem...not a CDR problem
