This thread prompted me to get around to uploading an avatar. I picked it 'cause it stands out... and to honor Ned Herrmann. Ned was an acquantance and author of my favorte book. This is the logo for his company, on the web at www.HBDI.com, it's a metaphor for his four quadrant model based on human brain physiology.
If you care how your brain works, or anybody else's, check out Neds work. If not you can still just enjoy the pretty colors.
Hometown watertower. Tried to shrink a few other things down, but didn't like the way they looked.
And in comment...
Although my last name is decidedly English - we have Scot and Irish blood as well. Debated placing a St. Andrew's cross flag as the head-liner in my truck. Still might do that eventually.
Calvin and Hobbs rocks! They had some great strips back in the day.
I really like the avatars. They give us a chance to tell something about the person on the other end of the mouse. Or fiber optic cable or whatever it is.
The one I wanted was too big so I looked around and found Borris Karloff. Since I like him, and it's small enough, I used it. Now I think it is kind of cool.
Because I love the old 53-56 Ford trucks. Because I drove my 55 Ford Panel for nearly half of my life before it was stolen and trashed for me. And ... because Ford trucks are TOUGH and when built right...kick some major bootay! And I used to love those old monster dragger drawings. ( Lived thru the days of the Rat Fink!)
Always loved the Marx brothers... my favorite is Harpo- whenever I've had a really bad day I mix a good jack and coke and watch a Marx brothers movie. Cheaper than psychiatry and nobody gets hurt! Works every time!

I too have noticed that Jack and Coke is a very good prescription for bad days. Interestingly, I've also noted that it can make good days better still! Enjoy.

I know what you mean. I don't drink much but I do know how uplifting a good funny movie is. Personally I like old silents, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton are at the top. It's just what the Doctor ordered. Laughter is the best medicine!
