Spare tire

Just a quick question...

I need to remove my spare tire and bracket so I can haul a few things with my tailgate down. Is there any reason it would be a bad idea to unbolt the bracket from the truck? Anything I would regret by doing this? Thanks

I took mine off because it was peeling the skin off the tailgate. No problem taking it off. Real easy. It was suprising how heavy the bracket was.

Id fill the holes with silicone if you plan on leaving it off.

Yeah, you will have no problems. I was afraid if I took mine off the brakets inside the body would fall down into the body, but it don't

sounds stupid to say this, but it came up in the forum before after someone did it, but make sure you take off the tire first so you dont dent the rear quarter pannel. im not trying to sound like a father, just throwing it out there.

if you have access to a welder and some touch up paint, i would just weld the holes shut, and then paint over the bare metal, thats what i did, and it looks much better, than leaving the wholes showing
