Thermostat housing...

My housing is leaking on my 1995 F150 with the 6 cyl and I am about to change it, are there any tips or tricks as far as the pipe fitting that comes in from the passenger side? Should I get a new one and housing instead of trying to get the old one to seal up again?

buy the pipe...IMO it's worth the extra. They tend to rust in there pretty good.

Yes, buy a new one, I think they are around 10$. They are heavier in construction and seemed to have a better sealing surface.

I changed my housing this morning. I unscrewed the pipe right at the fitting, took the whole issue inside on the work bench. I put the housing in the vice and unscrewed the fitting. She was tight but she came. I put it back like it was and my temperature gage has never been so high, so it worked. So if you dont get a new fitting, it's absolutely possible to use the old one.
