rain brings problems

so after a long day of work and a full day of pouring rain i go out to my truck and hop in. First thing i notice is the passenger side of the windshield is fogged, none what so ever on the driver side. What could cause this? This is were the next problem plays in. i put the defrost on and every time the ac compressor cycles on the idle drops dramatically and then it recovers. I don't knwo if this has to do with the rain or now. i'll find out tomorrow when it's hopefully drier. Please help.

I had a car that fogged up like that. There was a leak around the windshield and drivers window seals that allowed moisture to get in, the extra humidity made it foggy. I don't know if thats your problem as well, but its a thought anyway.

thats what i was thinking. leaking somewhere. it's weird. it starts about 1/2 way across the windshield but doesn't go all the way to the passenger side window. who knows. if it continues i'll have to tear down the dash and see. any ides on the sputtering?

Does it sputter the same way when you take it from neutral into drive? Maybe it needs a good tune up? Maybe your idle air bypass valve (controls the amount of air the engine gets when the throttle is closed) is dirty or sticking?
Try turning on the AC when its a nice sunny day....does it do the same thing?

Maybe someone else has more insight to the problem?

ok i was checking it out today. it does it even when it's not raining. i think it's my charging system. I started thinking about it and last night i had my headlights, wipers on full speed, defrost on full. i think my charging system is underpowered. I've had it tested several times and it checks out ok. Whats my solution to this?

thanks

The first step to fixing any charging system glitches is to clean both battery terminal connections and the ground connection from the battery to the engine. After the connections are 4.0, run the engine and take a voltage reading at the battery connections. You should see about 14 volts DC if your battery is fully charged. If you see low voltage, then it is time to look at the rest of the charging system.

It is normal for your engine to slow down a bit when the AC compressor cycles on.
