Brake Lights out, please help!!

2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

For some reason my brake lights have gone out, and I thought it would be a simple fix.

checked the fuse and they are OK
replaced the bulbs
replaced the brakelight switch

The brakelights still won't work, but the turn signals still function properly. I have had a problem with the turn signal **** before, where the right turn signal would blink fast with the tilt steering in a certain position. not sure if this is a related problem, but any advise is appreciated.

Recently changed the brake pads but I can't imagine anythng that could have caused this.

Does the high mount brakelight work?
