I use a product made by No Touch called Rain Shield . Its the easiest to apply that I have used . You spray it on a clean windshield and wipe , buff it off . You can also spray it on a wet windshield & simply run the wipers over it . It lasts depending how often you clean the winshield & how much you use the wipers . I find all those rain treatments do well when its pouring and you are moving at least 40mph otherwise you still need the wipers . If its a light rain , mist or if you are following slow traffic they dont do as well . They do make bug removal easier . Applying it to the headlights , mirrors , side & rear windows makes a big difference . It lasts much longer on mirrors & glass other than the windshield .
I have used Rain-X - works exactly as they advertize. Great stuff. Reapply every month or so, previous poster is correct that good precleaning is important. My wife an kids serve as my monitors, they start complaings as soon as the coating is beginning to lose effectiveness.
LAST EDITED ON 01-Oct-00 AT 02:19 AM (EST)[p]dust3, I have used the Rain-X for years and swear by it. I have also found another one that works great and seems to last a lot longer than Rain-X, Its called STP Vision Blade. It seems to stay good for 4-5 months, and repels as good as Rain-X. They sell it at Wal-Mart. I also use the Rain-X anti fog on my glasses. I have used all kinds of junk anti fog sprays from the eye doctors. The Rain-X anti fog is great on them!!
