why make the rear of the truck 1 ton and keep the front half ton ? yea it can be done easily just cut them in the same spot, bring the 2 halves together, clamp it all up measure center to center of each hub to make sure wheelbase is same on both sides, and burn it together altho i suggest more than just welding the joint also weld in some c channel to take the stress off the weld

We are puting the one ton suspension under the 1/2 ton frame ...the 1 ton is wrecked in the front and the frame rails are bent....we have 3 1/2 ton frames so we are going to make use of them... thans Hernando

Just put the 350 parts under the 1/2 ton frame. You should be alright doing that. I think I had rather do that than cut it.

IMHO of course.

yea now that I know what your trying to do with the 1 ton suspension I would just put the springs and spring hangers on the 1/2 ton frame, or better yet just buy a 1 ton

I'd recommend as much stress relieving as possible. Good preheating and postheating is key. Proper fitup and alignment is imperative. Your welder SHOULD be certified to weld structural steel.
