Question Help with boots

I have a early '99 PSD with 170K on it. One of the silicone boots, the one going into the turbo, has developed a leak. I need to replace that one and have decided to replace all six. I have a few questions.

1. I'm an OK shade tree mechanic....at best. How hard of a chore is this??

2. Should I go to Ford for new boots or select one of our sponsors that offers aftermarket boots??

3. Is there a real advantage of the Ford boot as compared to the aftermarket boots that are offered or are the aftermarket boots superior??

DO NOT BUY FROM FORD!!! Sorry to yell, however I made that mistake and spent 300 bucks before I found this site. Those boots should be no problem for you to swap out. I also recommend the CCV MOD. You might want to clean the engine real good before you start, a lot less messy that way. Good Luck!

International has the hoses for cheaper also, near 20 bucks or something but you need to take the old ones in to match sizes. The other alternative is a big truck store and buy a bulk hose and cut to match. Or go to the store above.

The boots that Bob sells at Dieselsite are tremendous. I think that they could withstand a grenade attack. That being said.....the boots for the intake/y-pipe are a real pain to get on and off. I have bent the intake tubes quite a bit working with these. Great product though!

Go find a local hydraulic hose store. They sell the silicone impregnated boots in any length. Some of those cost near $26/foot, but you only need about a foot or so.

4-Star Hose
Pyrtek
etc.

Formerly BUICKTURBO----copied and pasted from another thread....Thats where im goin to get mine.

Thanks for the help everyone. I will contact Dieselsite and get the parts going ASAP. I did the CCV mod earlier this year and it really works. I purchased and installed the Racor kit.
